About Beausoleil First Nation
The island community of Beausoleil First Nation is located on the Southern tip of Georgian Bay on the Christian, Beckwith and Hope Islands. Just a short drive North of Toronto, in the heart of Georgian Bay, Beausoleil First Nation can be access by ferry from the main land at Cedar Point. The island goes by many names including Chimnissing, which means “Big Island”. This First Nation has a total population of 2500 members, with 645 residents live on-reserve, and more than 1850 members residing off-reserve. Beausoleil First Nation operates the Christian Island Elementary School and an Alternative Education Program, in addition to many early learning and continuing education programs and services.
On-Reserve Services

Off-Reserve Services
Many Indigenous services available to on-reserve and off-reserve citizens can be found in surrounding urban communities. Categorized as “Off-Reserve Services”, these multi-functional services and organizations, such as Indigenous Friendship Centres and Health Units, offer a wide-range of services, programs and amenities geared toward Indigenous clients.
