About Magnetawan First Nation
Magnetawan First Nation is along highway 69 on the Magnetawan River that is 68kms North of Parry Sound. The land base of this First Nation is 4714.7 hectares. The total population is 385, on-Reserve population is 100 and 285 are registered. There is no school in this community and some of the students attend school in Shawanaga First Nation on another Reserve. The peoples culture and history is still alive and growing today. The hunting, fishing, farming is some of the uses from their land. They still follow the old ways when picking berries, making maple sugar, rice picking and many other traditions.
