Description of Services:
Offers educational, recreational and mentoring programs that develops girls'
- self-confidence and leadership skills
- science, tech, engineering and maths skills
- finance competence
- physical fitness
- self-defense against violence
- one-on-one support with a social worker
- Friendly PEERsuasion Builds girls' skills to resist pressure to use harmful substances such as alcohol, tobacco, drugs, and household chemicals * teaches young girls how to recognize stress and manage it in a healthy way * develops girls' leadership skills that will help them become peer mentors to younger children aged 6-10
- Leadership Programs Connects girls with women leaders in their community to develop and practice their leadership and advocacy skills through hands-on activities, community exploration, role plays, weekend retreats, and problem solving projects for community issues * two leadership programs offered for girls aged 9-11 and girls aged 12-14
- Operation SMART® Build girls' skills and interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) in a fun and supportive environment * education done through hands-on activities, problem solving, exploration, and interaction with men and women pursuing STEM careers
- Project BOLD® Teaches girls safety strategies and self-defense techniques that can help them avoid or deal with hurtful situations in their homes, school, community or the web * teaches girls specific self-defense techniques and how to seek out * provides education about gender based violence
- Sporting Chance® Fosters girls' interest in physical activity, sports and healthy living * uses physical activities and sports to develop girls' self-confidence, competitive spirit, teamwork skills, and self-discipline
