Description of Services:
The Margaret Gray Nursing Station burned to the ground on Saturday, March 2nd, 2024. Temporary facilities have been put in place.
Nursing station providing basic medical and health care services
Nursing station providing basic medical and health care services
- Provides services that promote physical and mental health for community members
- Coordinates health care services through the Margaret Gray Nursing Station; health team consists of three community health nurses, home-care nurse and a community health representative
- Provides physician consultations one week per month through a visiting physician from Sioux Lookout
- Provides health awareness and counselling, education and prevention workshops especially in the areas of diabetes and problematic alcohol and substance use
- Coordinates clinics/workshops in areas that may include Diabetes, Immunization, Sexual Health and Communicable Diseases
- Provides mental health services including counselling
- Coordinates visits from dentists and optometrists twice per year
- Advocacy on behalf of individual with other health professionals
- Coordination of one-on-one pre-natal care with the community health nurse
- Home visits to the sick, elderly, new mothers and persons with health care needs
- Assistance with coordinating local and long distance travel arrangements for medical appointments
- Provides access to specialized medical care using videoconferencing and other tele-diagnostic equipment
- Allows specialists to remotely examine and prescribe treatments to patients in their home communities
- Reduces the need to travel to receive care
