Description of Services:
Communicable disease control and infection prevention and control * monitors and follows up with reported cases and outbreaks of communicable diseases in both the community and in health care settings
Ensures and confirms appropriate actions and treatment are taken in response to reportable diseases and that measures are in place to limit spread to others * education about infection prevention, control and best practices offered to health care institutions, daycares, schools, community agencies, and the public
Inspections - Public health inspectors inspect food premises and pools in health care institutions, group homes, homes for special care, and daycares * assess infection control practices in day cares * inspect high-risk personal services settings like tattooing and body piercing places

- TB Testing TB skin testing by appointment only * clients must return to the Health Unit two days later to have the TB skin test read by a Public Health Nurse * TB skin tests are only done onsite for medical or immigration purposes
