Medical referral is required * patients have either had surgery at Trillium Health Partners (THP) hospitals or are referred by orthopaedic surgeons or doctors within Mississauga Halton area
Eligibility - Population(s) Served
Patients who have had total joint replacement procedures (hip/knee) at THP, or who reside in the Mississauga Halton area

Take a left down the hall towards Diagnostic Imaging. Before Diagnostic Imaging, take a right turn down the hallway and the first office on the left side is the reception area
Description of Services:
Hospital-based outpatient day program with a focus on rehabilitation * patients are engaged in setting their treatment goals and are expected to participate in their assigned home program to help their full functional recovery
Services include:
Knee replacement patients can start outpatient physiotherapy between 3-7 days after the surgery and can expect to participate in exercise classes twice per week for up to 6 weeks
Hip replacement patients can start outpatient physiotherapy between 2-6 weeks after surgery, and usually only need 1-3 visits
Services include:
- assessment and treatment by physiotherapists and physiotherapy assistants
- goal setting and treatment planning
- education
- individual and group exercise programming
- home exercise program
Knee replacement patients can start outpatient physiotherapy between 3-7 days after the surgery and can expect to participate in exercise classes twice per week for up to 6 weeks
Hip replacement patients can start outpatient physiotherapy between 2-6 weeks after surgery, and usually only need 1-3 visits
