Application

Clients must apply by October 31. Register by calling Community Services at 905-623-3379 ext 2552; fax 905-623-5506 or email: communityservices@clarington.net * All applicants must reapply each winter season.
Waiting period: Snow clearing service on municipal sidewalks will start the day after a snow fall ends and only when there is more than 7.5 cm (approximately 3 inches) of snow on sidewalks; The driveway windrow snow clearing service will not be undertaken until the snow plowing on all Municipal streets has been completed and are not called out for 15 cm (approximately 6) inches or less

Eligibility - Population(s) Served

Must be 65 years of age or older or be physically disabled, occupy a single family dwelling which fronts on to a municipal street in specified urban areas or the urbanized areas of the specified hamlets. Must have no able bodied persons under the age of 65 years of age residing on the property. Proof of age required. If residents are under the age of 65, a doctor's not is required.

Description of Services:

This service is available to senior citizens 65 years and older and the physically disabled from Nov to April. Snow will be cleared from municipal sidewalks and from driveway windrows in the urban areas of  Bowmanville, Courtice, Orono, Newcastle Village and in the Hamlets of Bond Head, Newtonville, Tyrone, Leskard, Haydon, Kendal, Solina, Hampton, Burketon, Enniskillen and Maple Grove.

Resident/homeowner must provide sand and/or salt for the sidewalk as needed.
New customers and all customers with a temporary disability must register at one of the following community centres:
  • Alan Strike Aquatic and Squash Centre
  • Courtice Community Complex
  • Diane Hamre Recreation Complex
  • Garnet B. Rickard Recreation Complex
  • South Courtice Arena
