  • Qualifying families must be working, attending training or school or have a child with special needs

  • Families are required to provide their most recent Notice of Assessment (NOA) or Reassessment or Canada Child Benefit Form (CCB)

  • Must be receiving Ontario Works and employed

Description of Services:

  • Responsible for the delivery of Child Care and Early Years within the Thunder Bay District
  • Provides a list of licensed child care facilities online at http://www.thunderbaychildcare.ca/
  • Subsidized Day Care
    • Provides financial assistance towards the cost of day nursery or private home day care services for parents, foster parents or legal guardians
    EarlyON Centres
    Offer a range of services and resources to all families in Ontario, providing:
    • fun activities such as reading, storytelling, sing-alongs and games
    • advice from professionals trained in early childhood development
    • information about other family services in the community
    • a place to connect with other families with young children
    Special Needs Resource Services
    • Ensures that all children, regardless of need, can participate in the child care setting of their families' choice
    Ontario Works Child Care
    • Provides funding if available for Ontario Works recipients who are taking part in approved activities, to help pay for child care expenses in either Licensed Child Care Facilities or with Informal Care Providers
