Application

  • Recommendations for referral to a First Nation's Review Committee are based on a successful completion of the Employment Counselling and Assessment Process

  • Requests considered on a first come first served basis and reviewed pending availability of funding

  • Process takes 2-4 weeks and approval must be confirmed prior to starting

Eligibility - Population(s) Served

  • On or off reserve First Nations members of the nine participating communities or individual based programs

  • Must be unemployed, underemployed, or out of school for 12 months

  • Program must not be eligible for Band Post Secondary funding

  • Demonstrated need for assistance

Description of Services:

Delivers Human Resources Skills Development Canada (HRSDC) related programs and services to members of the participating communities
  • Assists Indigenous people to pursue education and employment opportunities
  • Offers financial support/wage subsidies and opportunity through a number of client-based and project-based programs which are listed on website
  • Holds status under the Indigenous Skills and Employment Training Program (ISET)
Job Seeker services include:
  • Career Planning
  • Continuing Education Assistance
  • Elder In Residence Support
  • Employment Advising
  • Job Development Support
  • Life Skills Support
Employer Services include:
  • Free online job posting board and internal office job posting bulletin board for employers looking for prospective employees
  • Collection of applications and related forms and packaging/forwarding for employers if required
  • Hosting employer briefings/information videos in boardroom for job seekers
  • Assistance with booking and/or hosting interviews with prospective workers
  • Referrals of qualified candidates to job postings
  • Circulation of applicable job postings to the applicable applicants employer is seeking
  • Wage subsidies for First Nation citizens to overcome labour market barriers
  • Training programs for prospective employees
  • Tailored Personality Dimensions Training workshops for employers and Indigenous communities
