Application

Individuals can be referred to the program by their family physicians or by contacting the senior's program outreach worker. Seniors Mental Health Consultation Program admission criteria include seniors (usually over 65) with mental health problems/illness, complicated by age-related medical illness and/or functional needs; behavioural problems associated with dementia or other mental illness; severe late onset of mental illness; persons under the age of 65 who have an early onset of an age-related illness.

Description of Services:

This program is in partnership with North Bay Regional Health Centre Regional Senior's Mental Health Consultation program. It is a consultation service providing mental health assessment, diagnosis, treatment recommendations and limited follow-up and/or referral on an outreach basis for people who live in the catchment area of North Bay Regional Health Centre. The service also collaborates with health care organizations and caregivers to provide advocacy for consumers and their families to ensure that the mental health needs of seniors are met. It provides education and consultation to community organizations, as well as other helping professionals concerned with psycho-geriatric issues.
