Eligibility - Population(s) Served

Children 17 years of age and younger who are severely disabled with a permanent functional loss in one or more areas of development
Must reside at home with their parents/caregivers
Monthly benefit is determined by the extraordinary expenses directly related to the child's disability and the gross family income
Medical travel expenses not covered by the Northern Travel Grant may be allowable

Description of Services:

Provides financial assistance for low-income and moderate income families to cover some of the extra costs of caring for a child who has a severe disability, such as:

travel to doctors' appointments, hospitals and other appointments related to the child's disability
special shoes and clothes
parental relief such as respite
