Provides financial and employment assistance, along with child care funding to eligible residents of the city and county of Peterborough.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE - is to provide for food, shelter and personal needs for members of the family unit.
EMPLOYMENT ASSISTANCE - supports Social Assistance participants with practical help to prepare for and find employment. Participants who have mandatory requirements will participate in such employment assistance activities as employment supports, basic education, Community Placements and Employment/Self-Employment programs. Assistance with resumes, work placements, counselling and academic upgrading and training. Social Services may also assist clients of Social Assistance and the Ontario Disability Support Program with discretionary benefits.
HOSTEL AND HOMELESSNESS - Brock Mission provides service to single males and females 24 years of age and older, contact 705 748 4766. Youth Emergency Shelter provides service to youths up to the age of 24 and to families with children, contact 705 748 3851. Cameron House provides service to women over the age of 24, contact 705 748 4766.
CHILDREN'S SERVICES - provides child care and financial assistance to eligible families who are working or attending school. Child care is provided in 2 daycare centres or private child care operators. Contact 705 748 8830 ext 3616
HOUSING SERVICES - Administers the social housing portfolio for the City and County of Peterborough * develops funds and administers affordable housing programs, including new rental construction, rent supplement, home ownership assistance and residential repair programs.
