About Chippewas of Georgina Island
Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation is located in Sutton West Ontario. This community is separated into three reserves. The 1st Reserve is called Chippewas Island which is made up about three hectares, Reserve 2nd is called Chippewas of Georgiana Island First Nation and the land is 1,353 hectares, and the 3rd Reserve is called Chippewas of Georgina First Nation that is made up of one hectare. This First Nations member population count is 920. There are 12 students that attend Waabgon (Georgiana Island School) that is located inside the community. This First Nation is in the process of preserving their own history as well as culture and language.
